Hey Everyone! My name is Shauna. I have been married to my best friend, Shane, for almost 5 years, and we are proud owners of our two dachshunds, Flops and Sadie. I am a housewife and hope to soon turn my title into stay at home mom. My passions are spending time with my family, cooking, saving money, and vacationing.
I worked a full time job in retail for the first couple of years of our marriage. In January of 2009, I traded that job in for a short term, part-time job at a local church since Shane was at the point financially where he could support us and I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life; I was sure I was not called to working in fashion! When the part time job had run its course, Shane suggested that I just be a housewife for a while and figure out what I wanted to do. Well, as it turns out, being a housewife is my calling. I spend my days cleaning house, helping Shane organize for his jobs (he's a worship leader at our church, and teaches private music lessons full time), and I play bass on Wednesdays and Sundays at our church.
When I say that Shane can support us financially, I mean that he makes enough to pay our bills. We live a very simple life, and I'm constantly looking for ways to save money. In March 2010, we were hanging out with our church small group and found out that the leader's wife was big into couponing; she spent on average $40 a week for all of her groceries. I was blown away! I spent $150 - $200 a week on groceries at Walmart, NOT including trash bags, paper towels, toiletries, etc! I asked her to teach me how to coupon and later ended up going to a coupon seminar with her that was led by Jenny from Southern Savers. Long story short, I have gotten pretty good at couponing! I save at least $400 a month on my groceries, get discounts on all my clothing and household purchases, AND I usually get a meal for free when Shane and I eat out! I love Jesus, and all I want to do now is lead people to Christ, then tell them about how couponing can slash their bills in half!
